Following on from our post on Making Tax Digital for Income Tax at the beginning of September, we are delighted to announce a reprieve!!..
The government has delayed the start of MTD ITSA to 6 April 2024, with MTD for general partnerships postponed to 2025. The change to the tax year basis has also been delayed until at least April 2024.
So that is all good news, and as an agent, we are breathing a huge sigh of relief at the moment. However, it is delayed, not cancelled, so we would still encourage all our clients to start thinking about this and if possible start to use digital software from the beginning of their next accounting period, or 6 April 2022, so that when the MTD ITSA does come into force, they are ready for it.
