NATA is the trading name of Northumberland Accountants & Tax Advisers Ltd.

NATA is a family business which provides accounting, taxation services and bookkeeping support to individuals, sole traders, and small to medium sized businesses.

NATA is a licensed accountant, with a practising license through the Association of Accounting Technicians so you can be assured that your accounting and tax affairs are being dealt with by competent individuals.

We work at a time, and a place, and with a flexible working pattern to suit YOUR needs. We cover the local area from Newcastle and North Tyneside, Morpeth and up to Alnwick, Berwick and surrounding areas and even across to Hexham.

NATA has offices in Ashington and Morpeth, but please be aware that client meetings are by appointment only, to avoid any wasted journeys, as we have just two full time staff working across both offices.

Although a small practice, NATA has a wealth of connections to other business service providers, such as website design, energy savings services, marketing and business planning, social media consultancy, and financial services to name but a few.

Meet the team

Mrs Bobbie Brown - BA (Hons) FMAAT
Mrs Bobbie Brown was a personal financial adviser and then a bank manager in a former life. After having a family, Bobbie decided to train as an accountant. She qualified first as an accounting technician in 2007, and then went on to qualify as a chartered certified accountant in 2014. Bobbie started providing bookkeeping and accounting services as a sole trader (ABSS), with a diverse range of clients from retail outlets, restaurants, care homes, manufacturing to estate agents.

Bobbie has a broad experience dealing with smaller business clients in the Northumberland area. Bobbie has helped clients open new retail outlets, giving assistance in restructuring businesses, implementing new bookkeeping and administrative services, to allow more efficient management accounting and administration.

Having now fully qualified, Bobbie is eager to concentrate more on clients than studying and is looking forward to forging more relationships with local businesses and entrepreneurs, to see how she can best help your business to grow and be profitable.

Michael Brown - MAAT
Michael holds an AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting, and also has a certificate in ICB Payroll Management Level 3 and he has passed the Xero Advisor Certification program. He comes to us with a background in the manufacturing and construction industry.  Having worked at the grass roots of construction, Michael is more familiar with the practical side of manufacturing and costings and can see things from a more relevant perspective.  Michael is in charge of client records – bookkeeping and payroll – and he also deals with credit control.   
Hannah Brown
Hannah’s role within NATA is a very versatile one.   She provides great support with data entry and bank reconciliations and can jump from one role to another, and one system to another, as workflow dictates! She is also a fabulous artist, and provides us with great pictures of Northumberland landmarks which we use for cards to clients.   As we are Northumberland based, it is really lovely that Hannah’s artistic skills allow us to enjoy the beauty of our county and share it with our clients by way of greetings cards.
Laura Brown
Laura is the youngest member of our team. She is an invaluable office admin assistant, doing all the little admin roles that the rest of us don’t want to do! She is a great data entry clerk and is becoming very competent with Excel spreadsheets.   What is more important is that, being a youngster and used to App functionality, Laura quickly picks up how to use all the different digital software platforms, which is a great help to us as there are a multitude of software packages being used across our client base. As she is currently at university, she works remotely and is particularly helpful during our busier periods.

Riley
Riley is our staff welfare officer. He keeps us grounded and our stress levels moderate. You can be assured of a canny canine welcome at our Morpeth office.
