Just a heads-up for those of you who use an old version of Sage accounts software, and who use this software to file your VAT returns online, Sage have advised us that from 14 February 2018 HMRC’s electronic data interchange will be decommissioned and existing services will be migrated to a new platform. All electronic returns must be made via this new end point.
This means that you will probably have to update your Sage accounts system or file your VAT return independently of the sage accounts, via HMRC’s government gateway.
This notification is in no way an advert for sage! “Other software providers are available” if I can quote the frequent disclaimers we hear, but we wanted to pass on this information to all sage users!
